Green Diamond Resource Company to clearcut south of Coast Range summit.

THP 1-13-058 HUM (Fernwood 2014 THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 111 acres; 70% clearcut, 29% no-harvest, 1% roadside logging.  Noisy Creek (HUM: T5N R3E Sec.3; HUM: T6N R3E Sec.33, 34).  Wet weather operations, moderate erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 65%, landslide terrain in unit C, oversized unit B, impaired 303.d watershed, coho watershed, herbicides, 7 spotted owls within 1.3mi, red tree vole in unit A, scattered large trees.  Estimated public comment deadline: 08/25/13.

This THP is about 7 miles SE of Blue Lake, CA and about 4 miles south of the Highway 299 summit on the coast range at an elevation of 2200 to 3000 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a feller buncher, shovel and cable logging mostly clearcut logging operation in second growth Douglas Fir, hemlock and red cedar.  The THP area drains into Noisy Creek which is a tributary to Redwood Creek, and contains steelhead and coastal cutthroat trout.  Unit B is oversized at 22 acres, and there are seeps in units B & C.  Salamanders were found within the seeps (unstable area) in unit C, and red tree voles were detected in unit A. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
