THP 2-13-050 PLA (Squaw Valley Forest Health THP) Squaw Valley Resort, 153 acres;  100% selection logging.  Squaw Creek, Bear Creek (MD: T16N R16E Sec.32).  Winter operations, high erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 65%, impaired 303.d watershed, oversized landings, large tree helicopter logging, trees up to 220 years old.  Estimated public comment deadline: 10/13/13.

This THP is located at Squaw Valley Ski Resort near the NW shore of Lake Tahoe at an elevation of 6,200 to 7,550 feet.  The THP area drains into Squaw Creek which is listed as impaired due to sediment and flows into the Truckee River.  Squaw Valley Ski Resort is planning a 153 acre helicopter logging operation to selectively remove trees damaged by dwarf mistletoe, Cytospora canker, fir engraver, white pine blister rust, and to reduce ladder fuels from below.  Large trees are present up to 220 years old including red fir, white fir, Jeffrey pine, lodgepole pine, mountain hemlock, western white pine and aspen.  Oversized landings are planned to accommodate helicopter logging. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
