W.M. Beaty & Associates planning THP just north of Quincy, CA.

THP 2-13-052 PLU (Arlington THP) W.M. Beaty & Associates, 585 acres; 100% group selection logging. Indian Falls (MD: T26N R9E Sec.25, 36; T26N R10E Sec.29, 30, 31, 32, 33).  Winter operations, moderate erosion hazard, steep slopes over 65%, 14 road drainage work sites, 3 spotted owls within 1.3mi, willow flycatcher and cooper's hawk sightings, Webber's milk vetch, scattered large trees.  Estimated public comment deadline: 10/19/13.

This THP is about 10 miles north of Quincy, CA near the towns of Crescent Mills and Taylorsville.  W.M. Beaty & Associates is planning a group selection tractor logging operation in white fir, ponderosa pine, sugar pine and Douglas fir forest near Indian Creek which flows into the Feather River.  Fourteen road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking and culvert maintenance.  W.M. Beaty & Associates is planning to use a landing that is bisected by a class III watercourse, and also a landing adjacent to a class II watercourse.  Ground based equipment is proposed for use on some slopes exceeding 65%.  There were willow flycatcher sightings and habitat reported in section 25, a Cooper's hawk sighting was reported in section 31, and Webber's milk vetch was found in section 29. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
