This THP is about 6 miles SW of Willits, CA and 3 miles south of Highway 20 at an elevation of 1,120 to 2,650 feet. Coastal Ridges LLC is planning a tractor and cable logging operation in second growth Douglas fir and redwood forest. The THP area flows into the Big River which is listed as impaired for sediment and temperature. One mile of new road construction is planned, and an existing road is planned for use that runs a top a large unstable area on a ridge that has a cut bank failure. Forty four road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, culvert repair/replacement, ditch cleaning and road bed stabilization. Foothill yellow legged frogs were seen at Martin Creek, and 2 peregrine falcons were spotted at the “Two Rock” site 1,400 feet NW of the northern corner of the THP. This THP will reduce spotted owl nesting/roosting habitat by 4 acres, and foraging habitat by 458 acres. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
