This THP is about 2.2 miles SE of McKinleyville, CA and a few miles north of Highway 299 at elevations up to 560 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a feller buncher, shovel and cable logging operation in redwood, Douglas fir, Sitka spruce and grand fir forest. The THP area flows into the Mad River which is listed as impaired for sediment, temperature and turbidity, and is an important Coho, Chinook, steelhead and coastal cutthroat trout fishery. There is 1 shallow rapid landslide in unit A, and 7 head wall swalles in units A and B. Over 5,280 feet of temporary road is proposed and a steep temporary road is proposed over 15% grade in unit A for 210 feet. One spotted owl territory was reported to be within .5 mi of units B and C.
