This THP is about 8.5 mi SW of Willits, CA  and Highway 101 at an elevation of 570 to 1,820 feet.  Coastal Ridges LLC is planning a tractor based logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood and Douglas fir forests.  The THP area flows into the Big River which is listed as impaired for sediment and temperature.  There are multiple road failure sites including fill failures, cut bank failures, washed out crossings and road bed channeling.  Coastal Ridges LLC wants to use heavy equipment on unstable slopes at 8 locations, including the construction of new road segments on unstable slopes.  They also want to use ground based equipment on steep slopes over 65% grade, and on slopes over 50% grade with a high or extreme erosion hazard.  Twenty two road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair and replacement.  For spotted owl site MEN0358; this THP will reduce foraging habitat by 58 acres within .7 mi. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
