Green Diamond Resource Company to clearcut log west of Redwood National Park.

THP 1-14-088 HUM (BL 1600/2820 16 THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 110 acres; 81% clearcut, 19% selection logging.  Pitcher Creek (HUM: T9N R1E Sec.15, 16, 22, 23, 26, 36).  Wet weather operations, moderate erosion hazard, steep slopes over 65%, landslide terrain, redwood national park within .5 mi, herbicides, coho watershed, 3 spotted owls within 1.3mi, northern red legged frog in unit D, marbled murrelet stand within .6 mi, osprey nests nearby, running pine in unit D, trees up to 24" dbh.  Estimated public comment deadline: 09/21/14.  VIEW

This THP is about 7.5 miles NE of Trinidad, CA and within a half mile of Redwood National Park at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,700 feet.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a clearcut feller buncher, cable and shovel logging operation in redwood, Douglas fir, hemlock and grand fir forests.  The THP area flows into Maple Creek and big lagoon which contains coho, chinook, steelhead and coastal cutthroat trout.  There are 5 landslide terrain sites in the THP area, mostly in the NW portion of unit A, and the eastern portion of unit A.  A landing is proposed for use adjacent to a class II watercourse in unit B. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
