This THP is about 30 miles NW of Susanville, CA and north of Eagle Lake at an elevation of 4,920 to 6,600 feet.  Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a mostly shelterwood overstory removal tractor based logging operation in mixed conifer stands.  So called temporary "jump roads" are planned to connect roads with landings throughout the THP area.  There is a goshawk territory a few miles east of the THP area in section 12, two Bald eagle nests near Big Jack Lake, and greater sandhill cranes were reported nearby at Dixie Valley and Big Jack Lake.  In 2008, a Sierra Nevada red fox was spotted 2.8 miles away from the THP area east of Dixie Valley, and in 2011, OR7, California's only gray wolf was spotted nearby.  Egg Lake monkeyflower was located near an existing landing in section 15, wooly stenotus was found in sections 15, 16 and 23, and hillside arnica was recorded in sections 14 and 19. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
