Green Diamond Resource Company to log near Redwood National Park.

THP 1-14-113 HUM (BL 2600/2690 THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 202 acres; 38% clearcut, 35% commercial thin, 19% no-harvest, 8% selection logging.  Maple Creek (HUM: T8N R1E Sec.1, 12; T8N R2E Sec.6, 7).  Wet weather operations, moderate erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 65%, 7 road drainage work sites, herbicides, oversized units, coho watershed, 2 spotted owls within 1.3 mi, marbled murrelet stands within .25 mi, trees up to 60" dbh.  Estimated public comment deadline: 11/30/14. VIEW

This THP is about 5 miles NE of Trinidad, CA and .6 mi SW of Redwood National Park at an elevation of 600 to 1,800 feet.  The THP area drains into Maple Creek which flows into Big Lagoon at the Pacific Ocean and contains coho, chinook salmon, coastal cutthroat trout and steelhead.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a tractor and cable logging operation in Douglas fir and redwood forests.  7 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, crossing repair and culvert repair/replacement.  There is a marbled murrelet stand within .25 of unit A and the BL2000 and BL2661 roads, and spotted owl nesting territories within .25 mi of unit B. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
