This THP is a few miles west of Comptche, CA and inland on the Mendocino coast at an elevation of 100 to 900 feet. The THP area flows into the Albion River which is listed as impaired for sediment and temperature. Mendocino Redwood Company is planning a tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood and Douglas fir forests. There are 7 road failure sites including fill failures, bank sloughing and cut bank failures. 56 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, crossing restoration and culvert repair/replacement. Oregon gold thread was found within a class I watercourse. For spotted owl site MD236; the THP will reduce foraging habitat by 5 acres within .7 mi, for spotted owl site MD065; the THP will reduce foraging habitat by 14 acres within .7 mi, for spotted owl site MD562; the THP will reduce foraging habitat by 46 acres within .7 mi, for spotted owl site MD439; the THP will reduce nesting/roosting habitat by 2 acres within .7 mi, and foraging habitat by 55 acres within .7 mi.
