Green Diamond Resource Company to clearcut east of Trinidad, CA.

THP 1-15-104 HUM (M Line Creek 17 THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 146.5 acres; 69% clearcut, 24% no-harvest, 7% selection logging.  Maple Creek, McDonald Creek (HUM: T8N R1E Sec.9, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22).  Wet weather operations, high erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 80%, landslide terrain, impaired 303.d watershed, herbicides, coho watershed, 6 spotted owls within 1.3 mi, 2 osprey nests within .25 mi of units B and C, southern torrent salamander sightings near units A and D, red legged frog sightings in units B and C, scattered large trees. This THP is 3 miles east of Trinidad, CA and Highway 101 at an elevation of 500 to 1,400 feet.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, grand fir, Sitka spruce, western hemlock and Douglas fir forests.  There is a shallow rapid landslide terrain site along the upper portion of unit A, a headwall swale in the center of unit C, and 7 shallow rapid landslide terrain sites and 5 headwall swales in unit E.  An osprey nest is located within .25 mi of units B, C, haul roads CR1400 and CR1430, and a second osprey nest is located within .25 mi of unit B, and the CR1400 haul road. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
