Roseburg Resources Company to clearcut log near Big Bend, CA.

THP 2-15-082 SHA (West Cantrell THP) Roseburg Resources Company, 197 acres; 98% clearcut, 1% selection, 1% no-harvest logging.  Deep Creek, Little Roaring Creek, Bush Bar (MD: T36N R1E Sec.7, 17, 18; T36N R1W Sec.13).  Winter operations, low erosion hazard, slopes up to 50%, impaired 303.d watershed, herbicides, fisher sighting in unit 1802, osprey sightings within 1 mi, rattlesnake fern, English peak greenbriar, scattered large trees.  Estimated public comment deadline: 12/25/15. VIEW

This THP is about 8 miles north of Highway 299 and 2.2 miles SW of Big Bend, CA at an elevation of 2,340 to 3,220 feet.  Roseburg Resources Company is planning a clearcut tractor based logging operation in Douglas fir, white fir, incense cedar, ponderosa pine and sugar pine forests.  There was a fisher sighting in unit 1802, and multiple osprey sightings within 1 mi of the THP area.  Rattlesnake fern was found in sections 17 and 18, and English peak greenbriar was found inside/adjacent to units 700, 702, 702W, 1802W and 1803. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
