This THP is 7 miles east of Orick, CA and Highway 101 near Redwood National Park (unit A is adjacent) at an elevation of 1,240 and 2,100 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a clearcut and commercial thinning tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in Douglas fir, redwood, western hemlock and western red cedar forests. The THP area flows into the Klamath River which is listed as an impaired watershed for temperature, nutrients and dissolved oxygen. There are shallow rapid landslides associated with watercourses in units B, C and D. 18 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, culvert repair/replacement and re-construction of washed out crossings including sink holes, diverted channels and fill failures. More information is available on the THP Tracking Center website.
