Green Diamond Resource Company to log SE of the town of Smith River, CA.

THP 1-16-119 DEL (Savoy Thin THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 354.5 acres; 58% commercial thin, 19% clearcut, 14% no-harvest, 8% selection, 1% roadside logging.  Lower Rowdy Creek, Dominie Creek (HUM: T17N R1E Sec.5; T18N R1E Sec.29, 30, 31, 32).  Wet weather operations, moderate erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 75%, landslide terrain, 10 road drainage work sites, herbicides, coho watershed, spotted owl, bald eagle, scattered large trees. This THP is about 3 miles SE of Smith River, CA and Highway 101 at an elevation of 160 to 1,600 feet.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, Douglas fir and western hemlock forests.  There are shallow rapid landslide terrain sites in units A, C, E and H, and a 100 foot section of the SAV-1100 Road has been offset by a deep seated dormant landslide. 10 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning, culvert repair/replacement and restoration of washed out crossings.  There is an historic bald eagle nest .4 miles west of units A and F, and spotted owl nesting territories within .25 miles of unit H.
