Sierra Pacific Industries to clearcut log SW of Lassen National Park.

THP 2-16-076 TEH (Ashley THP) Sierra Pacific Industries, 738 acres; 99% clearcut, 1% selection, misc roadside logging.  Judd Creek (MD: T28N R2E Sec.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9; T28N R3E Sec.6; T29N R2E Sec.34, 35, 36; T29N R3E Sec.31, 32).  Winter operations, low erosion hazard, herbicides, chinook watershed, slopes up to 50%, 49 road drainage work sites, trees up to 125 years old.  Estimated public comment deadline: 12/15/16. VIEW

This THP is about 25 miles NE of Red Bluff, CA and about 6 miles SW of Mineral, CA on the south side of Highway 36.  Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a clearcut tractor based logging operation in Douglas fir, incense cedar, ponderosa pine, sugar pine and white fir forests at an elevation of 3,240 to 5,440 feet.  49 road drainage sites are planned for work Including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning, culvert repair/replacement and restoration of washed out crossings.  There are 2 CA spotted owl nesting territories within 1.3 miles of the THP area.
