This THP is about 6 miles north of Susanville, CA and Highway 44, and about 3 miles SE of Eagle Lake at an elevation of 5,400 to 6,520 feet. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a clearcut tractor and cable logging operation in Douglas fir, white fir, ponderosa pine, sugar pine, Jeffrey pine and incense cedar forests. SPI is planning to construct new temporary roads under 500 feet without pre designation or pre flagging. 35 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair/replacement. There is a bald eagle nesting territory 900 feet east of unit 3 and 1,025 feet north of unit 2, and another bald eagle territory 2,280 feet SW of unit 1. Greater sandhill cranes have been spotted in meadow areas around Coleman Lake along the SD Line haul road near the THP area, and at Round Valley Reservoir east of the THP area. Susanville beardtongue was found in sections 22, 23, 24, 27 and 30.
