This THP is about 6 miles NE of Trinidad, CA and about a mile east of Highway 101 by Harry Merlo State Park (unit A is adjacent) an elevation of 50 to 350 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, Sitka spruce and Douglas fir forests. There are 5 landslide terrain sites in the THP area including 2 shallow rapid landslides, and 3 deep seated landslide terrain sites. An osprey nest is located within .25 miles of unit A and the LP Mill Road, and bald eagle nests are located within .25 miles of unit A, within .5 miles of the LP Mill Road, and within .25 miles of several haul roads. Tailed frogs have been spotted adjacent to unit A, and marbled murrelet habitat exists on Harry Merlo State Park lands within 300 feet of unit A, within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road, and near several haul roads.
