This THP is about 6 miles SW of Trinity Center, CA by Hayward Flat Campground near Trinity Lake and Highway 3 at an elevation of 2,500 to 4,000 feet. Hayward Flat Campground is adjacent to units 2130 and 2170, and unit 410 is adjacent to Highway 3. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes (unit 330) in Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, sugar pine and Pacific yew forests.  There are 3 segments of roads proposed for use exceeding 20% grade in section 21, and 75 feet of an existing skid trail is proposed for use within a class II (mid sized) watercourse in unit 2210.  Glaucous umbrellawort was found within unit 400L, and there is a spotted owl nesting territory within 1.3 miles of the THP area.
