This THP is about 15 miles north of Westwood, CA and a few miles east of Highway 44 at an elevation of 5,700 to 6,400 feet. Fruit Growers Supply Company is planning a mostly group selection tractor based logging operation in white fir, red fir, sugar pine, ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, Jeffrey pine and incense cedar forests. 17 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair/replacement. There is a northern goshawk territory .1 miles north of the THP area in section 10, and a northern goshawk territory .3 miles SE of the THP area in section 14. Greater sandhill cranes were reported at Feather Lake, 1.25 miles west of the THP area, and at Pine Creek Valley, 2.5 miles north of the THP area. An America badger was spotted in the THP area, an osprey was spotted .5 miles south of the THP area at Bridge Creek (section 34), and a bald eagle was reported at McCoy Flat Reservoir, 2 miles south of the THP area. Western catchfly was found at Bridge Creek, just east of the THP area, and Davy’s sedge was found within the THP area in section 17. There is a CA spotted owl territory at Campbell Mountain, .5 miles NW of the THP area.
