This THP is 1.5 miles north of Trinidad, CA and about 1/4 mile east of Highway 101 at an elevation of 400 to 800 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation in redwood, Douglas fir and bishop pine forests. The majority of units surround both Strawberry Rock, and the Strawberry Rock hiking trail which is a popular hiking destination with great views of the Pacific Ocean. Ten road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning, and culvert repair/replacement. There is an osprey nest within .25 miles of unit D, and in 1993, a northern red legged frog was spotted within units B and D. Southern torrent salamanders were reported within 4,000 feet of unit D, and coastal tailed frogs were reported 1,500 feet SE of unit D.
