This THP is a few miles south of Westwood, CA and just east of Lake Almanor and Clear Creek, CA at an elevation of 4,680 to 6,000 feet. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a tractor based shelterwood and clearcut logging operation in Jeffrey pine, ponderosa pine, sugar pine, Douglas fir, white fir and incense cedar forests. 51 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair/replacement. There are six historic osprey nest sites within 1 mile of the THP area in sections 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, and 1 active osprey nest site in a 30” dbh white fir tree in section 13. A bald eagle nest is located within 1 mile of the THP area in section 19, and willow flycatcher habitat is located in section 29 within .93 miles of the THP area. Moonwort (unspecified) was found in section 30, clustered lady’s slipper was found in section 30, alder buckthorn was found in section 25, Kellogg’s lewisia was found in sections 23 and 24, and Plumas alpine aster was found in section 25.
