This THP is about 6 miles SE of Trinidad, CA, and about 6 miles NE of McKinleyville, CA at an elevation of 320 to 1,320 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a commercial thinning tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes (a deep seated landslide terrain site is located in unit D) in redwood, Douglas fir, grand fir and western hemlock forests. 13 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning, culvert repair/replacement and restoration of washed out crossings. In 2010, a fisher was observed in unit K, and in 2007, a fisher was observed in unit F. In 2012, a sharp shinned hawk was spotted 1.5 miles NE of unit A, a peregrine falcon eyrie is located .52 miles south of unit G, and there is an osprey nest within .25 miles of the CR2000 Road. Coastal tailed frogs are known to occur immediately adjacent to unit F, and foothill yellow legged frogs are known to occur 2,500 feet south of unit E. There are spotted owl nesting territories within .25 miles of unit G.
