This THP is about 2 miles SE of Weed, CA and Highway 5, and about a mile east of Black Butte  at an elevation of 4,000 to 4,600 feet.  Timber Products Company (Michigan California Timber Company) is planning a mostly clearcut tractor based logging operation in ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, white fir, sugar pine and incense cedar forests.  The THP area drains towards the Shasta River which is listed as an impaired watershed for temperature, organic enrichment and dissolved oxygen.  The THP area is within .25 miles of Black Butte Springs, and seven acres of meadow regeneration is proposed at another wet meadow within the THP area.  In 2014/2015, there were reported sightings of pacific fisher within the MCTC Black Butte tract.  Pallid bird’s beak was found along several roads within the THP area.
