This THP is about 18 miles NE of Auburn, CA and about 7.25 miles NE of Georgetown, CA at an elevation of 3,300 to 4,200 feet. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a clearcut and fuel break tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, sugar pine, white fir and incense cedar forests. The THP area flows into the South Fork of the American River, and contains 2 unstable areas including; an unstable area at the outflow of an historic ditch, and an unstable area along a seasonal road. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning to use ground based equipment on slopes designated for cable logging operations, use and construct roads, landings and crossings during the winter period, and use ground based equipment on slopes up to 50% grade that lead without flattening before reaching a watercourse area for site prep operations. 16 road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning, culvert repair/replacement and restoration of washed out crossings. Osprey and northern goshawk sightings were reported within 2.75 miles of the THP area. Red hills soap root was found in units FB01, 035B, 1705, FB02, FB09, FB07, 1712 and FB06.
