This THP is about 13 miles NW of Bieber, CA, 8 miles NW of Lookout, CA and about 38 miles SE of Mt. Shasta at an elevation of 4,000 to 4,600 feet. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a mostly clearcut tractor based logging operation in ponderosa pine, sugar pine, incense cedar and white fir forests. Construction of roads and landings is proposed during the winter period. Greater sandhill cranes and elk are known to frequent nearby Whitehorse Flat and Mosquito Lake. There are 5 historic (over 5 years) northern goshawk sightings within the THP area, and in 2018, an osprey nest was reported inside unit 8A. Silvery false lupine and Shasta beardtongue were found in a grassland area, and long haired star tulip was found near units 19D and 20D.
