This THP is about 3 miles SE of Truckee, CA, about 3 miles north of the north shore of North Lake Tahoe, and a few miles east of Northstar Ski Area at an elevation of 6,500 to 7,700 feet. Sierra Pacific Industries is planning a group selection and fuel break tractor based logging operation in nice high elevation stands of red fir, white fir, Jeffrey pine, western white pine, lodgepole pine and sugar pine forests.  The THP area flows into the Truckee Watershed which is listed as an impaired watershed for sedimentation/siltation and is a popular year round recreation area for locals and tourists. Construction and use of landings and crossings is proposed during the winter period.  Three road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair/replacement.  In 2018, a northern goshawk was reported within .7 miles of the nearest THP unit in section 34, and in 2004, a pair of willow flycatchers were reported near the THP area.
