This THP is about 6 miles NE of Trinidad, CA near the western boundary of Redwood National Park (Unit B is adjacent) at an elevation of 600 to 1,800 feet elevation.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, Douglas fir, grand fir, western hemlock and Sitka spruce forests.  There are 5 landslide terrain sites in the THP area including; 3 deep seated and 1 shallow rapid landslide terrain site in unit A, and 1 deep seated landslide terrain site in unit B.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning to use temporary roads and landings during the winter period, use ground based based equipment on existing skid trails across unstable areas in units A and B, and re-construct an existing steep section of road exceeding 15% grade in unit D. Potential marbled murrelet habitat exists on Humboldt Redwoods State Park property within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road, and within .25 miles of the BL2000 Road on GDRC property.  There are 4 osprey nests within the THP area including; an osprey nest within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road, an osprey nest within .25 miles of the BL1000 Road, and 2 osprey nests within .25 miles of the BL2000 Road.  A bald eagle nest is located 1.8 miles NW of the THP area, a great blue heron rockery is located .25 miles east of the BL2000 Road, and red tree voles have been observed .53 miles south of unit E.  In 2007, a sharp shinned hawk was reported 1.59 miles SW of unit D, and a foothill yellow legged frog was reported 1.5 miles west of unit D in Maple Creek. There are 7 spotted owl nesting territories within 1.3 miles of the THP area.  This THP is just NW of Green Diamond Resource Company’s recently submitted Relief Pitcher THP 1-19-209 HUM.
