Green Diamond Resource Company to log SE of the town of Smith River, CA.

THP 1-19-212 DEL (Morrison Thin THP) Green Diamond Resource Company, 372.5 acres; 90% commercial thin, 10% no-harvest logging. Little Mill Creek (HUM: T17N R1E Sec 6, 7; T17N R1W Sec 1, 12; T18N R1E Sec 31; T18N R1W Sec 36).  Winter operations, low erosion hazard, steep slopes up to 60%, landslide terrain, 5 road drainage work sites, herbicides, coho watershed, spotted owl, marbled murrelet, scattered large trees. This THP is about 2 miles SE of the town of Smith River, CA and about a mile east of Highway 101 at an elevation of 400 to 1,600 feet.  Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly commercial thinning tractor based logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in Douglas fir, redwood and western hemlock forests.  There are multiple shallow rapid landslide terrain sites in units A and B, and 1 deep seated landslide terrain site in unit A. Five road drainage sites are planned for work including rocking, dip construction, ditch cleaning and culvert repair/replacement.  Potential marbled murrelet habitat is located within .91 miles of unit B, and there are 3 spotted owl nesting territories within 1.3 miles of the THP area.
