This THP is about 5 miles NE of Trinidad, CA and about 1.5 miles SE of Highway 101 and Big Lagoon at an elevation of 40 to 680 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, Douglas fir, grand fir and Sitka spruce forests. There are 7 shallow rapid landslide terrain sites inside unit C including 4 unstable areas within watercourse areas, and 3 road related cut bank failures. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning to use temporary roads and landings during the winter period. A bald eagle nest is located 1 mile NW of unit A, and 4 osprey nest sites exist in the THP area including; 1 osprey nest within .25 miles of the the LP Mill Road, 2 osprey nests within .25 miles of the Bl2000 Road, and 1 osprey nest within the boundary of unit A and the BL1000 Road. Potential marbled murrelet habitat is located on Humboldt Redwoods State Park lands within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road. In 2016, a great blue heron rockery was discovered .22 miles east of the BL2000 Road. Northern red legged frogs were observed immediately adjacent to units A and C, and foothill yellow legged frogs are known to occur immediately adjacent to unit B. There are spotted owl nesting territories within .25 miles of unit C.
