This THP is about 8 miles NE of Trinidad, CA between Big Lagoon and the western boundary of Redwood National Park (unit B is adjacent) at an elevation of 1,000 to 1,800 feet. Green Diamond Resource Company is planning a mostly clearcut tractor and cable logging operation on steep and unstable slopes in redwood, Douglas fir and grand fir forests. A shallow rapid landslide terrain site exists along the NE portion of unit B. Potential marbled murrelet habitat exists within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road on Humboldt Redwoods State Park lands. There are 2 osprey nest sites in the THP area including; an osprey nest within .25 miles of the LP Mill Road, and an osprey nest within .25 miles of the BL2000 Road. A bald eagle nest site is located 1.3 miles SW of the THP area, and foothill yellow legged frogs were reported 2 miles SW of unit A. Spotted owl nesting territories exist within .25 miles of unit A, and within .25 miles of unit B.
